I finished a class project for rug hooking. We started it last Spring after my hubby had back surgery. I didn't start it again until this year. It is a small rug that I will use as a wall hanging - Probably only 16 x 16 inches. Part of the class was the pattern, wool, and, then, instruction from the teacher on shading. I think we had 9 different wools for shading. Lori Cravens was the teacher. I don't like the binding part of finishing, so, at least it was small, and, I could do it at the guild ...

Rather than add fabric this week, I cut fabric strips. I weighed them at 3 lbs 6 oz all from scraps. This is equal to 9 1/2 yards of fabric or 100.00 dollars - or 3 jelly rolls = 120.00 dollars - or 3 layer cakes = 120.00 - or 6 honey buns = 150.00 dollars - or 14 charm packs = 140.00 dollars. Well worth the time to make use of these fabric scraps.
Stash report May 2, 2021

With my mojo gone, I have just been tinkering with this and that. I have some almost finishes.
asterix s for the full stop quilt that Angela is doing. I still need to sash and join.
I found two pieces of fabric at Goodwill this week. And, they look good together. I am always wondering what goes on in the mind of the person sending their fabric to goodwill. Do they not like it, was it leftover from a project, are they moving, quitting, or just downsizing? I try to keep my expected cost of goodwill fabric to 1.00 per yard. Their fabric prices are getting ridiculous for second hand fabric. I can only buy on Senior discount day. These 2 pieces were closer to 1.50 per yard, but, I liked them enough to ...
read moreI went to rug hooking meeting last week for the first time this year. And, I finished the flower part of this project. I was pleased until I saw the picture. I want to rework the tips a bit. I have a great lime green wool for the background. This is my portable project that i can take with me to the meeting. Mr. Scarecrow is big and heavy, so, I am saving him for home.
No change in my stash report this week. I have several quilting projects ready to complete. So, one night I will go to bed ...
read moreI haven't been to rug hooking in a while. The pandemic, my hubby's retirement, and feeling behind has left me wanting to stay home. I had already decided, that, I didn't want to cart my big project (snowmen) out of the house any more. I picked a smaller, easier to carry project to take with me, when I go. I took a class last year for this project. And, I would like to see it move along..... I need to go to rug hooking. And today is the day.

Day 2 of my hubby's back surgery recovery, and, I made a good start on a drop stitch scarf. I'm sure I have altered the pattern with a little boo boo here and there. It is really looking pretty good, considering I was interrupted every 20 minutes. And was bored easily.
I realized I haven't posted about a rug hooking class last week with a teacher from Noblesville that our group invited for a workshop. We are learning shading using her flower pattern. Our choices were purple or red. My kit is the red.
